Hoodia is a plant found in certain southern regions of Africa. It has a cactus-like appearance and many believe it is a natural diet and weight-loss supplement. There are many myths surrounding this plant. As a result, many doctors have done tests and research to see if it really is the best natural weight-loss supplement available today. Although there is no hard evidence that ingesting hoodia leads to weight loss, people have used it for hundreds of years to suppress hunger and diet.

Hoodia does contain the ingredient P57, which is known to suppress appetite. There has been no Hoodia testing on humans yet so it’s hard to determine, but researchers did find that lab animals that were given Hoodia before their daily meals appeared to be less hungry than the animals that did not receive it.

Unfortunately, there are many weight-loss scams that attach the name Hoodia to their products, making it difficult to determine if it really does work. The actual plant is from the Southern region of Africa and is not found anywhere else in the world. People have tried to duplicate it but it’s not the same. In order to get rid of imposters and scammers, all genuine Hoodia products have a CITES certificate on them to identify them as the real deal. If you are interested in using Hoodia in your weight-loss journey it is important to look for this certificate.

Another myth is that Hoodia can help you lose massive amounts of weight in only a few weeks and some users have even noticed a change in their appetites up to 30 minutes after taking their very first pill. Other people say they felt no effects or changes in their diets for several weeks. Because there has not been extensive research on the hoodia plant it is hard to determine firstly if the person had taken the right product and whether it was mixed with other herbs etc. There have also been reports that people feel calmer after taking a hoodia supplement.

Before taking Hoodia talk to a medical professional about the pros and cons. There are many counterfeit products on the market so it is important you know what you are putting in your body before you spend lots of money on a fake product. Also, people with diabetes and other health conditions should definitely seek medical advice before taking any diet supplement.
